Orrville Otters Swim Team

The YMCA of Wayne Co. Orrville Branch swim team is a competitive team that is not just for Orrville residents. Our team, the Orrville Otters, has team members from Dalton, Apple Creek, Smithville, and Homeschoolers. While the team is competitive, there is also fun involved. During swim team, athletes will learn the proper form for all four strokes, freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. The coaching staff consists of former swimmers, and each brings a new perspective to the team. Join the YMCA of Wayne Co. Swim Team Mission

The mission of the Orrville YMCA Swim Team is to provide the opportunity for each athlete to build a healthy spirit, mind, and body as a part of a team in the sport of competitive swimming.

The team will:

Provide instruction, training and competition for all levels of swimmers

Encourage and reward commitment, dedication, discipline, and hard work

Build positive character as a member of a team

Provide opportunities for positive social, emotional, and cultural growth

Encourage the highest degree of sportsmanship, dignity, respect, and team spirit

Swim Team Requirements

The following is a list of requirements for participation on the YMCA Swim Team

Current membership at the YMCA of Wayne County.

An Emergency Medical Authorization and Sudden Cardiac Arrest (Lindsay’s Law) Form on file with Orrville YMCA. Swimmers will not be allowed to participate in any swimming activities without the required forms.

The ability to swim freestyle & backstroke two lengths of the pool (50 yards) for ages 9 & up, one length of the pool (25 yards) for ages 8 & under.

Swimmers must be 5 years of age by the first meet.

Cap and goggles are important tools for a swimmers success.

Parents must help at swim meets and other team functions.
