Lead Fun Engineer
About the Role
Do you have the imagination of a Disney Imagineer, the energy of a camp counselor, and the curiosity of a mad scientist? The YMCA is seeking a Specialty Camps Instructor to lead themed camps such as LEGO Engineering, Science Lab, Spy Academy, Pirate Adventure, Disney Magic, Cooking Creations, and more!
This is not your average classroom — this is where experiments erupt, treasure maps come to life, and cardboard becomes castles. We’re looking for someone who can turn anything into an adventure and keep kids inspired, laughing, and learning all at once.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead week-long themed specialty camps for ages 6-12.
- Create engaging, hands-on activities tailored to each camp theme (STEM, art, drama, cooking, roleplay, etc.).
- Bring HIGH energy and enthusiasm every day — costumes, characters, and dramatic flair encouraged!
- Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment for campers.
- Communicate with parents and YMCA staff to provide a fun and memorable camp experience.
- Assist with supply prep and camp setup/cleanup.
What We’re Looking For
- A creative powerhouse with a love for storytelling, building, experimenting, and pretending.
- Experience working with children (teaching, camp counseling, childcare, coaching, or similar).
- Strong leadership and group management skills.
- Willingness to get silly, get messy, and make magic happen.
- Ability to adapt plans on the fly when pirates invade or slime overflows.
- Bonus skills (not required but awesome!): theater, STEM, art, culinary, DIY crafting, or improv.
